This fridge/freezer rocks! low power use….lots of room for meats, fish, veggies, etc.
Freezes like home freezer! A bit heavier than I was hoping for as we have to lift it up into a semi, but worth it. We now dial down the truck fridge for veggies and pre made meals and meats go in the engel. Low power draw. The 12v cord is not even warm.
Low power consumption. Does the job most can’t. Maintains constant temp. Lettuce will last-fruits and veggies don’t spoil due to flux in temp. My only complaint is that the rubber corner inserts / guards come free. They don’t fall out but it’s like having the seal around your car door come loose every time you open the door. A year later and over 30k miles in the back of a truck. Left out in freezing weather and hot blistering desert summers. It’s a trooper and worry free. …I ended up taking he rubber bumpers off.
Excellent durable cooler, cools to about 5 below in a truck with ambient temp of 80 deg F. Cools fast, draws about 2.5 amps at 12 Volts DC.
My only suggestion would be to have the latches be made of metal rather than plastic. The rest of the Engel is well made and durable. And the swing compressor promises to last indefinitely. Also would be great to have readout of internal temperature, perhaps LED display on control panel. Only has numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, for cooling setting which requires guesswork to set temp. BUT Engle has other refrig freezers with digital displays and metal latches which cost well over $1000.
